Well I dont know how many people read this but I will give it a shot. I am blowing fuses like crazy for my compressors. The power wire that is fused for my 2 viar 450's is the one that keeps blowing on me. I have changed the wire, checked for shorts in the wire, and it still blows. I bought a new solenoid and made sure all my connections are good and secure. Any ideas mabey? The only thing not changed out is the Press switch. I dont really think its that either. It mabey cause i have a 50 amp fuse and the viars max amp is 23 a piece. So it mabey getting up to 50 and blowing. But I had a 60 amp fuse and it did the same thing. Thanks for the help!!

Frank, I read your e-mail....I dont know what to tell you, unless one of the compressors is burned up (which I highly doubt...if it was, it wouldnt kick over at all) or there's another short...say between the solenoid and the compressors. It's got to be in that main power line. The pressure switch really wouldn't have that kind of effect on the system. If it was gone, it would blow the aux. fuse it's running from...

Yeah that is true...The only thing I have touched doug is I swapped out the battery with a red top optima and thats when it started to happen. Here is what im going to try. Im going to take off all my neon light connections, tape them up and zip tie them away. That way all I will have on there is my power wire going to the compressor.

Ok all the neons and bullshit power wires coming off my battery have been disconnected. I cant blow any more fuses cause I dont have any left. It seems though it only happens when I switch it on and off. I will let you know how this goes.

Have you checked the grounds Frank? If one's loose or gotten dirty somehow it could cause that also...

The solenoid get grounded from the bed. I have checked that. The compressor grounds really to me have no chance as to what could cause the fuses blowing. Its been 3 days and it hasnt blown yet. Hey...who the hell are you anyway? You a guest? Got a name? You know me so whats your name?

Well I blew another fuse. Definatly cause by my neons wired in there. I dont know where to go now. I may have a short somewhere with the hot compressor wires. I will check there.

what gauge wire you running? for 2 viair 450's you should AT LEAST be running 8G wire. i ran (when i had 2) the 450's, and i used 1 30amp 12volt relay for each compressor that i bought at Radio Shack (if you guys have those out there in WA). And I never blew a fuse and i had a my sound system running off the same battery. my comps were also run to a PSI Switch AND in dash switch, and that's what it sounds like you're running. i've never trusted the selenoids, i've always used relays. wired my friends truck the same way with only one comp/relay and he hasn't blown a fuse yet, and it's been a month.
just letting you know about your options. lata

Yup we have Radio Shacks all over here....I think they're nationwide. We'll be working on Frank's audio this weekend, so we'll probably check this problem out, also.

that's what's so weird. I've set 4 trucks up exactly like I did franks, no problems. 8g wire back to a 100 amp continuous duty solenoid (I love those things), and his truck is the only one with problems...I dunno. But yeah, we'll get it figgured out this weekend.

Are the neons tied into that circuit? That may be the problem because if I remember correctly those suckers can draw alot of current.

No it blew without the neons attached. I found out it only happens when the comps kick on after I start the truck. I have a theory as to why this happens and told doug about it. It seems like the initial turn on of the comps wanting to get up to speed and run is causing the fuse to blow. I think it may take a little more energy for the comps to turn on causing voltage and the amps to spike up above 60 amps. Hey peter will be there on monday. Sorry man im stuck at work!
