Hey I found a brand new EDC a friend of mine wants to sell for 350 dollars. It includes everything including all the brackets for a 4.3L. Smae one Jason sells on his site. Do you think its worth the upgrade to get an EDC? Its hella cheap and brand new. The guy has a stepside and doesnt want to cut his shit up for a 12 gallon tank and he needs money bad. Just wanted to see from some people what they think about it.

It's up to you. It's a hell of a deal, but they've got their downfalls too. They're definately cool, but you need to keep up maintenance on them...

Well I know you have to oil the shit out of them. But I have never had an edc and dont know how to keep these things maintaned. I would love to just have my tank fill up in 2 min from 0-145 or 145-175 in 22 seconds at idle. Do you know if you have to route airline to the tank or a long steel braided line to the tank? If you have to get the steel braided line where do you get it at?

well, really, after they're broken in, the oil isnt too bad...just drain the traps daily and check the fluid level in the pump every day or 2 and you're fine. You only need to run a few feet of braided steel, then you can go with regular DOT line after that...not too bad..

Hey doug been looking online buit cant find the spects on this bad boy. You know what the max psi is and how much current does the EDC run? Also...be honest. With all the maintenance and oil upkeep is it really worth it to run this?

It doesn't run any current, Frank. It's engine driven, not electrical.

You can run the edc's up to 250 or so regularly...they start working pretty hard above that. Peter's right..they dont draw any curret...well, maybe an amp or 2 when the clutch kicks in..and they're damn quick..that's fore sure. 0-175 in a 12 gal. in like a minute..lol

Yeah reason why im asking and wondering is cause I think my compressors are about to die on me. They fill the tank good but im thinking the brushes inside are shot causing my fuses to blow. Im talking to viair right now to see if they can send me some brushes to me for free cause of how new the comps are. The viair tech agree that the sign of over amperage that my comps are drawing is a clear sign of the brushes going out and that my comps are going to take a shit. I dont know...i was going to open them up to see what the fuck is going on inside. They got some ideas on how to check the brushes with a multi meter so im going to try that. If they do take a shit im going engine driven. Doug...got a hookup on EDC's man?

Frank...did you put your old battery back in like you were going to? I remember you saying that you didnt have any problems till you put that optima in. I'd suggest trying that before you drop the cash on an engine driven.
If the brushes were that far gone, they woudlnt be filling as fast as normal, and they'd be drawing high current as well. I really have a hard time beliving that both your compressors crapped out....
