Hey quick question. I may be getting my skin and shit painted here soon. My question is how do you paint or clear over the LED bar I have? What do you use as an adhesion compound to allow it to stick on acrilyc?

just clear over it Frank. you dont need any special adhesion promoters, just wetsand it with the base and clear over it. You may need to hit it a couple times to burry the tape line from the base coat, but shouldnt be bad..

Hey doug got a good quote from a good body shop of 700 to paint and fix the bed man. They are going to sand it all down...re fill and paint the skin and take care of the whole bed. Their paint is dupont and they garuntee it for life. You think its a good price to pay for man?

I think that is a damn good price for around here.... the paint alone fron CarPaints would run us about $250.00... Who is going to paint it?

Five star paint and body shop. I walked in and made sure that the place was clean and everything is good. The owner who will be working on my truck had some pictures of some amazing paint jobs he has done. If I had the money...I would go all out but im not going to. Later on when I Re enlist...I will get some sirbrush work done on the back. It looks like a good place... I saw a ton of newer style trucks and a lot of work they are doing so I know they are not a normal backyard paint shack. I also got to look in their paint booth to make sure that everything is cool. I couldnt find anything but some dust laying around...lol.

Hey ryan or doug...can you explain how I can tell the to round the corners on my LED bar? I was thinking It needs to be mudded and primed over to get a rounded shape. Any idea or thoughts?

Yeah, you're supposed to round the lens when you cut it into the body pannel. Mudding it shouldnt be necessary, just mask a round end on it and paint over it. Your paint is dark enough that it *should* keep all the light from coming through..

"Should" LOL...I hate that word. I agree...i was thinking the same thing myself as well. I hope when the clear goes over the acrylic lens...it gets rid of any in perfections like scratches and stuff. I guess mabey I should went sand it some myself before I give it to them. What grit should I use on it?

I'd just let them finish it off. They'll be able to wetsand any imperfections out when they're doing the final wet sand before the clear and while they're doing all the finla body work..

Well...the truck has been at the body shop since tuesday. Went their today and yesterday...got some picts up that I will get here soon. They are done with the body work and sprayed the back with black primer allready. Truck is prepped and today they should be able to get a base coat on their. Will keep ya up to date on what is up. Its taking them a little longer than they thought due to how they wanted it to look good and not rush this as its custom work and not some insurance claim BS deal.

Yeah I got some picts man. They people over there were very pleased on the body work me and you did. They had very little problems prepping and doing minor filling. They took all the filler we had on their doug off and redid it with their filler as well. Looked like the same stuff....blue on the bottom and glaze on the top. I cant wait for this shit...next month im doing airbrush work on it. Thinking of getting some tribal bands going through the truck with some ghost effect skulls in it. I need some ideas on layout so please help if ya can man.
